How to help prevent spam emailSpam is one of the most annoying problems with the internet and can clog your mail box just as in the real world. Fight back against this menace by applying a few simple steps in the fight against spam. Here is one way to prevent spam (those annoying emails sent in bulk) from reaching you automatically. If you leave your email address in a forum or newsgroup, simply add an extra line to your email address. For example, if your email address is john@doe.com, tell a newsgroup that your address is john@DELETEME.doe.com. Tell the group to remove the "delete me" line before emailing. A person may see that your email address is wrong, but an automatic email address harvester will never know. Hopefully, this one little action will help in the fight against spam. Most email clients have anti spam filters that you can turn on. Login to your account and check that the filters are set to the highest anti spam measures. If you have a website, consider having a form that has to be physically filled out instead of a text link to your email address. This stops automatic harvesting. Get a hotmail or yahoo email account so that when you join newsgroups or any other program that requires you to sign up and give your email address you give them this account. You can then delete it when it is getting heaps of spam, simply joining again under a new name.
