Computer Tips - How to remove MSN Messenger

Many computer users have found removing or uninstalling MSN Messenger isn't always as simple as it should be. Especially when using windows xp. Here is two ways to remove this program from your computer which will do the job for you.

First Method for uninstalling MSN Messenger:

  • Click your start button / Settings / Control Panel
  • Click add or remove programs, then choose the option for add / remove windows components on the left side and check MSN Messenger to remove.

    Note, you may see two services that look similar. One is Windows Messenger and the other MSN. Windows messenger can also be removed if you are getting a lot of unwanted popup boxes with the words "Messenger Service" at the top.

If for any reason you cannot find MSN Messenger in the add or remove area of control panel, try the second method below for removal.

  • Click your start button / Run / type in the following line:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

  • Press OK and restart your computer.
