The river is also home to the giant Anaconda snake and the Boto, commonly known as the Amazon River Dolphin.

The rainforest around the Amazon River is being cleared at an alarming rate and is thought to be directly influencing the climate, along with industrialized nations spewing pollution into the air and water. The climate change debate is gathering momentum with governments now more willing to change than ever before.
