Did you know that the Great Sphinx of Giza was carved from a single stone probably around 2500 years before Christ. The Sphinx has the body of a lion and the head of a man and faces due east.

The Sphinx is that old not that much is really known about it but there are a lot of guesses as to who built it and why. Some say it was built as a symbolic gesture to the sun god while others say it faces east and was carved as a symbol to the equinox of Leo in 10500 BC. One thing that is definitely known is that it's the largest statue on earth being 20 meters or 65 feet high.
