Did your know that the Arc De Triomphe was ordered to be built by the French Emperor Napoleon Boneparte in 1806 and it took about 30 years for it to be finished. Built as a monument to some of France's most notable war victories, the monument is the second largest triumphant arch in the world. The largest is the Arch of Triumph in Pyongyang Korea.

The Arc De Triomphe is over 51 meters (165 feet) in height and is 45 meters wide. In 1919, Charles Godefroy flew his fighter airplane through the arch as a tribute to all the airmen killed during World War One. Under the arch there is a memorial tomb to The Unknown Soldier with an Eternal Flame.
