Pekingese dogs make great house pets and are loving and loyal. Said to
have been a gift to the Chines people from Buddha, the Pekingese breed
is over 2000 years old.
Once only owned by Chinese Imperial Palace members they were introduced
into England in 1860 by Lord John Hay who took the pekingese dogs from
the Chinese Summer Palace during the first opium wars. They are now bred
worldwide and are much loved by their owners.
Pekes need daily grooming as their hair is easily matted, and of course
they love the attention from their owners. Some owners have stated that
they actually feel as if they are the slave and their Pekingese is the
owner, that must be due to all that royal breeding throughout the centries.
They are intelligent dogs and easy to train. Watch this video
