The Great Dane is one of the largest dog breeds and yet their size is not an indication of their temperament. Usually docile, loving dogs the Great Dane makes a good family pet, is easy to train, but remember that they need lots of exercise. Great Danes are large, muscular dogs originally bred to hunt wild boar and as a guard dog for their masters. They have been man's friend for many centuries and are noted way back in Egyptian times.
