Did you know that when a tadpole hatches from the egg they are more like fish and breathe through gills, they actually have teeth and these drop out as the tadpole goes through the metamorphosis stage that occurs as a tadpole develops and becomes a frog. They also lose the tail and grow legs as they become more froglike, but the tail doesn't actually drop off, it is absorbed by the growing frog as food.
