In some countries, cattle are used to pull plows and carts, ridden like horses and are regarded as being a better choice for transporting loads than horses as they are slower and more sure footed, plus less susceptible to injury, therefore making them more reliable.

Cattle can interbreed with many other like animals such as the American Bison, so there are many different crossbreeds which makes them perfect animals to raise in difficult climates. For example in dry areas of Australia, cattle have been bred which can withstand the harsh climate better than cattle in southern parts with milder temperatures and more rain.
