PuppetShow Mystery of Joyville Game Review

Certainly a game that has been exceptionally developed, PuppetShow Mystery of Joyville is an interactive adventure right up there with the greatest hidden object games yet produced, such as Return to Ravenhearst. Perhaps the only downside to an otherwise excellent title is the overall length of play. This one would be over in around 3 hours by most HOG fans.

Apart from the length, PuppetShow Mystery of Joyville is a real standout, with the best graphics of any game released this year, and a real sinister story of intrigue and spooky themes. PuppetShow Mystery of Joyville does come with a warning for those easily scared, but should really only disturb those who are ultra sensitive. The theme is one of a ghostly kind, where you must investigate mysterious disappearances and solve challenging puzzles.

Joyville was once a flourishing tourist city where an old puppet maker filled the town with wonder, displaying marvelous mechanical puppets and other attractions, that drew people to the town from all corners of the world. A mysterious fire destroyed much of the town, and many townsfolk perished along with the puppet master. It was a terrible tragedy and the tourist trade died almost immediately. Since that fateful day, people have reported hearing crying and screaming coming from the burnt out theater, and the townsfolk who remained do not venture outdoors after sundown. Some say that the ruins are haunted by the ghost of the late puppet master. In the latest unexplained incidence a young boy has disappeared and it is up to you to investigate and solve the series of spooky and eerie events that has befallen this once joyous village.

PuppetShow Mystery of Joyville is a true interactive adventure game where you add items to an inventory chest, which become tools to use later through the game. Hints are unlimited, though you will rarely need to use them and the mini puzzles are challenging but not too difficult. Overall PuppetShow, Mystery of Joyville is a totally enjoyable game with fabulous graphics, good audio and a solid story.

PuppetShow Mystery of Joyville isn't overly challenging, yet the story and fabulous development draws you eagerly into the game. There is no timer, so you can relax and fully enjoy the excellent production values and savor each scene. While it does have spooky undertones, it isn't frightening in the least and is a delight to play. We give PuppetShow Mystery of Joyville a wholehearted thumbs up and highly recommend this hidden object adventure to all. Again the only downside is the game length, but if you are a game club member at BFG, the cost of $6.99 is great value for 3 or more hours of fabulous entertainment. Going to a movie would cost more and you can play it again whenever you like.
