Magic Academy II Review
Magic
Academy II takes you into the world of magic and intrigue, where
logic and foresight will solve complex problems and quick thinking
save the world. There are 23 chapters filled with hidden object
scenes and mini puzzles. Items within scenes can be used to interact
with the scene itself.
Magic Academy II is an interactive adventure game where you play
as Irene, the newest and youngest member of the Magic Council.
It's Irene's first day as a member and already there is trouble
brewing for our young heroine. Her older sister has been accused
of stealing a powerful magic book that can summon demons to wreak
havoc on the earth. Help Irene find the missing magic book and
clear her sister of any wrong doing.
The game itself is quite good, yet could annoy the heck out of
some players. Magic Academy II will probably prove to have as
many haters as there will be fans for this game. There is a lot
of dialogue which will turn some off, yet the dialogue itself
combines with the game play, and is quite amusing for those who
don't mind listening to a story. Another annoyance is the fact
that if you quit the game halfway through a chapter, when you
come back to the game you must start that chapter from the beginning.
Graphics are good and the puzzles just challenging enough to
keep you occupied without being too easy or too hard. There are
elements within scenes that can be moved, like pulling a curtain
or opening a door, but strangely, sometimes they have no bearing
on the scene at all. At times you may try a puzzle and feel you
can't complete it, but you will probably need to find or complete
something else, or click on an object to find more about it within
the game, before you can complete that particular puzzle.
Overall Magic Academy II takes the player on a deep and fun filled
journey where logic is the main ingredient needed to finish. As
mentioned before, this will have it's fair share of those who
don't like it and those who will enjoy it immensely. Personally,
I really enjoyed the experience while playing to make this review
and would recommend Magic Academy II to anyone who likes a good
story and a lot of game interaction in the mold of Return to Ravenheast.
It's not near as good as Ravenhearst, but was a nice and long
game which gave the brain a good workout.
