Lost Realms The Curse of Babylon Game Review
Lost
Realms The Curse of Babylon is a good IHOG that takes you on an
adventure looking into ancient middle eastern culture. A strange
marking has appeared on your friends hand and you, playing as
Alexia, are the only one with the knowledge and skills to decipher
the ancient symbol and investigate the origins, so that a deadly
curse can be broken.
The story sounds good and it is, without too much kerfuffle,
the game moves along true to the story line right to the end.
Dialogue is kept to a minimum, allowing you to get involved in
the story without too much information bogging you down. Hidden
objects are not too hard to find plus with the use of a magnifying
glass, things look bigger and bolder to the poorest of eyes.
Lost Realms The Curse of Babylon has 2 game modes, relaxed and
timed. In the timed mode, you are allowed 15 minutes in each hidden
object scene to find the items on your list. You have 6 hints
available at any one time and as you use the hints, you can buy
more at the Bazaar by playing games such as "where's the
marble", a memory card game and an abacus match 3 type game.
These are not mini games, they are purely there for buying extra
hints if required. When you win a Bazaar game you are given 2
extra hints.
Lost Realms The Curse of Babylon graphics are superb and you
can turn the sound down, or completely off if you find it a tad
annoying. Mini games can be skipped with a penalty of one hint,
yet some mini games must be played in order to receive inventory
items. You sometimes need to go back to previous scenes to either
interact with other objects or find something else within that
particular scene. You can choose to go forward or back within
scenes, which is great, as sometimes if you are a little stuck,
reentering a scene can give your eyes a break and allow you to
easily find a difficult object the second time around.
There are 8 chapters with each chapter containing at least 4
hidden object scenes, plus several mini games. Puzzles are challenging
and an average HOG player should get around 4 hours enjoyment
from the game in relaxed mode, depending how quickly they play
and how much time is spent just enjoying the scenery. As previously
stated, in timed mode you get 15 minutes for each hidden object
scene, so multiply 8 chapters by 4 and you have a game length
of at least 8 hours, if you take the full 15 minutes to complete
each scene, which you won't anyway.
Lost Realms The Curse of Babylon is good value and a nice challenge
without being too hard. Not exactly a Ravenhearst, but good story,
good graphics and good length. What more could a fan of interactive
