Gardenscapes is far from the usual run of the mill game and if you dig deeper than the title, is a virtual treasure among all the games that have been released recently.

Sporting true interactivity, Gardenscapes takes you on a treasure hunt in an old mansion and allows you to restore a once beautiful garden, from a dilapidated state into something that resembles it's former glory.

You are contacted by Austin, your uncle's long serving and loyal butler, informing you of his untimely death and the fact that you are his sole heir. According to his Last Will and Testament, your uncle has bequeathed everything to you, but during his prolonged illness, all of his money was whittled away and all that is left of his once vast fortune is his mansion. Unfortunately everything has been allowed to run down and become in desperate need of restoration. Can you find a way to make the renovations without having money at your disposal.

You have fond memories of the mansion, especially the grounds where you happily played as a child. You can remember frolicking among long rows of colorful flower beds, hiding behind hedge rows and pretending to talk and play with the statues and ornaments. It was a very grand garden, and a pearl that the entire community admired. You decide to do whatever it takes to bring the gardens and mansion back from the brink of destruction.

With Austin the butler by your side, you embark on a junk yard sale program to sell some of the mansions valuable, yet unrequired artifacts, putting the cash raised back into restoring the mansion and grounds. You must find eager buyers for the artifacts and then locate the items inside the mansion before the buyers change their minds. Once you raise the capital, you can purchase goods to restore the gardens the way you would like.

Gardenscapes really takes the hidden object theme into another dimension, as you must find objects within a certain time frame before the price drops, as the buyer will get impatient waiting and give you less for each item, bit like a time management feature here. Once you have sold the items you can then select garden decor and layout your garden design completely how you want it to look. With relaxed and timed modes, there is a playing mode to suit all and the length of the game is quite long, 5 or more hours, so you get maximum value for your hard earned dollar.
