Escape the Museum 2 Game Review
As
a follow on from the original Escape
The Museum hidden object adventure, where Susan Anderson and
her daughter Caitlin were trapped in the museum after a terrible
earthquake, this game really takes a step forward in casual game
development, by continuing the story from a completely different
perspective.
Escape the Museum 2 has you taking the role of Susan's husband
David, and you live through the game helping his frantic attempts
to find and save his wife and daughter in the quake ravaged city.
Susan is a leading scientist at the National Museum of History
and was showing their daughter around the greater exhibits when
this terrible natural disaster struck. David has been trying to
contact Susan following the quake with no avail. His deep love
and concern for their safety compels him to brave the obvious
dangers associated with crumbling buildings, fallen power lines
and impending aftershocks. You must help him travel safely through
the devastation to reunite him with his family.
What a terrific story and what a terrific interactive adventure.
Escape the Museum 2 is really a huge step up from what was an
excellent hidden object game in the first of the series, and the
sequel is fun to play, yet compelling to finish, as you are driven
by the story to see if you can find your family alive. You really
feel the tension and have empathy with your character during every
level.
Played over 30 levels, you must find your way through the ravaged
city, searching for objects in the rubble that you can use to
find a way around huge potholes, through partially collapsed buildings
and other dangerous situations. Use you logic to solve complex
puzzles that will lead you to your family. Save other people from
life threatening situations amid the city ruins and reach your
family before nightfall. You have a map and an unlikely companion.
Can you find your way across the city? Is your family still alive?
Hints are by way of a helpful hobo, who knows the streets and
lanes of the city like the back of his hand. You can imagine the
stress that a husband and father would feel if you were in the
same situation, so as David's blood pressure would be high, too
much random clicking by you will only add to the stress levels
and cause David to pass out. But without a timer, the game can
be played in a fashion that should save David from having a heart
attack. Relaxed is really a good mode for David.
Escape the Museum 2 is a highly recommended IHOG, fun to play,
yet compelling, and at times difficult enough to satisfy the most
ardent adventure player. Great graphics, great story and interesting
puzzles make this much more than the usual hidden object game
and is a welcome step up in quality from the original. Wonder
what the sequel to this will be like? Should be really something
outstanding. Get this one, it's really good!
