Epic Adventures: La Jangada Game Review
IHOGS
are still evolving into graphical story books with interactive
elements, and this latest game to be added to the exciting IHOG
genre, Epic Adventures: La Jangada, takes you on a wonderful
romantic adventure into 19th century Brazil. The story is based
on a Jules Verne novel called La Jangada, and loosely follows
the plot where you help a young lady by the name of Minha gather
evidence to clear her father, Joam, from wrong doing.
Played over 8 chapters with 48 levels all up, those who take
their time and read through the story line should get at least
5 to 6 hours enjoyment. The hidden object portion of the adventure
game is cleverly developed, with objects to be found being of
the the age period and a good replica in actual size measurement.
There are mini games to break up the monotony and graphics are
well drawn, with perhaps the exception being Minha, whose eyes
are a bit spooky. The music is non intrusive, blending in with
the game to a point where it seems almost non existent. There
are some bells tolling, howling wolves and other audio noises
that add atmosphere to the game development.
For some, Epic Adventures: La Jangada may be a little grating
on the nerves because of the need to read, or listen to, the story,
yet this is really the whole point of interactive games, where
you not only get to input on the game interface, you are also
immersed into the story line, just where a good novel should take
the reader.
Epic Adventures: La Jangada isn't a hard game as far as hidden
object games go, but the nice interaction, where you search for
objects and use some in various scenes, then replace certain objects
in their rightful positions in others, is a good mix which keeps
the interest all the way to the end. Like previously stated, Epic
Adventures: La Jangada is not overly difficult, but if you do
need a hint they are unlimited and replenish quickly. For those
that get completely stumped, there is a link to a complete Epic
Adventures: La Jangada walkthrough in the hints section below.
As you progress through the game it does get harder, with objects
getting small and smaller where those unlimited hints come in
handy. Epic Adventures: La Jangada really is a game geared to
the more feminine gender, as the story is wonderfully romantic.
It is very interesting and challenging for an interactive hidden
object game, yet could be a little slow if you can't get pulled
into the story. Download the free trial and play Epic Adventures:
