Anka Game Review
At first you could be excused for thinking that Anka, the latest
interactive adventure game, is just some hidden object game haphazardly
thrown together to make a quick buck, but the longer you play
Anka, the more deeply rooted you become involved with the game
story and the brilliant mechanics. The game developers, Ovogames,
have tread a fine line between simplicity and involvement, and
succeeded where many fail to grasp the players attention and imagination
from beginning to end.
Anka
is the story of a young and resourceful village boy, who's parents
mysteriously disappear. He embarks on a quest to find his parents,
where all his abilities will be tested and his logic stretched
to maximum levels. He will have to find articles that will further
his quest, solve complex puzzles, perform tasks and devise inventions
and innovations to meet his fate.
Anka is an IHOG that is rather unique, from the good hand drawn
graphics to the many perplexing puzzles. Nothing is overly hard
to solve yet are complex enough to hold your attention. Sometimes
you see an object that will be clearly handy to use, yet you won't
be able to pick up the object until it actually needs to be used
within the game. This involves a bit of backward and forward play,
yet you can appreciate the logic behind the game play. The hint
system is adequate and has a subtle approach to discourage players
from over use. The hint button must recharge after use, but each
time you use it, the recharge duration gets longer.
Some mini games in Anka may at first be easy, but once completed
they unlock a new level, which is more difficult. Fabulous replay
value. Most will love the idea that a jigsaw puzzle can be manipulated
so you can use a photograph of your own, right from your own computer.
Place Anka high on your list of must play games, as we rate this
at almost 5 from 5. Perhaps 4.9 just because nothing is perfect,
(apart from my dear wife). There is a lot of humor within the
game and the whole development is extremely well thought out.
Anka is one of those rare games that is suitable for both young
and old, bringing out the inner child in us all. Buy this now,
you won't be disappointed!
