The Dracula Files Game Review
Set in modern day California, The Dracula Files follows the descendants
of the legendary vampire slayers Van Helsing and the Harker family,
to investigate a suspicious character by the name of Vladimir
Draco. Since the mysterious death of their parents in a hotel
fire, Michael and Quinn Harker is starting to believe that the
old stories about vampires, and in particular their ancestors
struggle with a certain Count Dracula, may just have some truth.
A
letter has come into their possession warning of the rise from
death of Count Dracula and the need to contact the Van Helsing
family if they suspect anything sinister. Now they have reason
to worry as their friend has mysteriously disappeared near the
Draco Winery. You must quickly decide a course of action to put
an end to Dracula for all time.
The Dracula Files takes you into a fabulous story and as a hidden
object game, one that will lead you to battle werewolves and vampires,
while you seek out vital clues in scenes full of mysterious items
and valuable artifacts. A classic hidden object game played over
30 levels, with unique mini games, sound that is perfect for the
scenes and objects that also suit the layout. While some may consider
the objects a little small and hard to locate against the dark
and spooky backgrounds, the hints system is unlimited and you
can also hover your mouse over the item on the list and be shown
a silhouette outline of the item, which makes it a little easier
on those strained eyes.
The Dracula Files has both a timed and relaxed playing mode and
involves some player interaction, where you use certain inventory
items. You can skip mini games without penalty, there is a second
pause if you have too many random clicks.
The Dracula Files isn't an easy game due mainly to the difficulty
of finding smaller objects against dark backgrounds. If you can
stick with it and overlook that downside to the game, the story
is strong enough to sweep you headlong into a very enjoyable adventure,
battling the infamous Count Dracula to the bitter end.
I strongly suggest that you try the free download as your opinion
of The Dracula Files may be quite different from mine. I found
the game very enjoyable and the items not too difficult to find,
yet many on forums disagree and are not giving this game a good
review. Give the demo a try, it's free and who knows, you just
may become a good vampire slayer and enjoy the action.
