The Blackwell Convergence Review
Joey Malone and Rosa team up again in another Blackwell adventure
game which takes you into the spooky side of puzzle solving. Following
up from the first 2 sagas, The
Blackwell Legacy and Blackwell Unbound, the unlikely pairing
of a mystic writer and medium and a good humored ghost, once again
delve into both the real world and the after life. This time around
they must solve a conspiracy that is over shadowing a hit movie
and an office that never gets occupied. Plus Rosa and Joey will
interview the living and the dead to find answers to why people
are dying here, there, and everywhere, yet an investment firms
profits are going through the roof.
It
won't matter if you haven't played either of it's predecessors,
The Blackwell Convergence starts fresh and is easy to play with
a distinct click and drag method of game play. It's not a hidden
object game, but more of an interactive puzzler, in that you must
talk to everyone you meet and elicit clues that will lead you
along the path to the truth.
Being a ghost, Joey is more than handy to walk through solid
objects and talk to other ghouls in the after life. Once you combine
Rosa's clues and Joey's together, you can figure out where to
search next or who you need to get answers from. The story is
what sucks you in from the start and there is quite a bit of humor,
quirky characters and a bizarre ending, which keeps the player
fully interested.
Unlike the first 2 games in the series, this time around The
Blackwell Convergence has a trial version, so you can give it
a try before buying the full game. Perhaps this is one of it's
major flaws as it shortens the playing experience. Nevertheless,
The Blackwell Convergence fully grabs you by the collar from go
to whoa and immerses you into the story. You really want to keep
going right to the finish. Like a good interactive movie, you
will sway with the music, love the characters and never want the
story to end.
Some people seem to have an issue with the graphics, but we didn't
see what all the fuss is about. No problems our end. The graphics
may be simple but they create a fabulous atmosphere and mood.
Give The Blackwell Convergence a good try! The first 2 Blackwell
games were very good and this is so far the best. It would rate
very high if the game was longer but as it's just a little short,
can't get the perfect score.
