Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders Game Review
Season of Mystery The Cherry Blossom Murders can best be described
as a classic hidden object game. There are a few interactive elements,
but in the main part cannot be classed as an IHOG. Sporting some
of the the most gorgeous colorful graphics seen in a game for
some time, and a story line that keeps you involved to the end,
Season of Mystery The Cherry Blossom Murders really takes the
eye and then the mind on a suspenseful journey into Japanese culture.
Set
in 19th century Japan, You play as Irene Pemberton. Irene and
her husband, a US diplomat, moved to Japan and are loving the
gentle way of life and different culture. Both of you are extremely
happy with the move and want to stay in Japan as diplomats forever.
When your husband Richard is found dead in his office, you simply
refuse to believe the police report that says his death was caused
by his own hand. You know in your heart that Richard would never
commit suicide. If the police cannot find the truth, then you
must investigate the mystery yourself and find who murdered Richard.
There starts your quest, looking for clues to lead you to the
truth. Played over 25 chapters, you search beautiful and colorful
Japanese scenes, play various puzzle games and reach the eventual
finale where all shall be revealed. In the main, objects are not
too difficult to find and there is a good hint system to help
with those that are tricky. Hints are unlimited and recharge,
plus if you click your mouse on a list item, you are given a silhouette
shape that most times suffices before playing a hint.
Mini games can be skipped, but remember you shorten the game
by skipping puzzles. Objects are randomized, so if you play a
stage again you will have different items to find. You do revisit
scenes during the game and look for different placed items.
Season of Mystery The Cherry Blossom Murders has fairly good
length, a compelling story line, colorful and interesting hidden
object scenes and a suspenseful plot. It isn't difficult by any
means and for classic HOG lovers, just the right mix of their
favorite game play. While there are interactive elements, it cannot
be classified as an IHOG and is perhaps more suitable to beginners
or those who enjoy straight hidden object classics. There are
many worse games than this around with this rating 3.5 from 5
stars. Season of Mystery The Cherry Blossom Murders is a good
hidden object game, but not great like the real classics, such
as Return
