Princess Isabella: A Witch's Curse Game Review
HOG fans have been well and truly spoiled the last few weeks
as yet another fabulous interactive hidden object game hits the
market. Princess Isabella A Witch's Curse takes on the big guns
for the title of best HOG game for the month and it really has
many fans raving and rating it highly.
The story follows the exploits of poor Princess Isabella, who
was all set to marry the love of her life. Isabella took a short
holiday and while she was away an evil fairy placed curses on
the castle. In every room lurks evil ghouls and all the castle
staff has been turned into mirrors. Help the Princess return her
castle by collecting items that you will assemble to lift the
curse. Once the castle is back to normal, the Princess can then
marry the handsome prince and live happily ever after.
This
is a story right out of fairytale books and the graphics are nice
and bright as a fairytale should be. Developed by Googi Games,
the usual good production takes a major leap forward, as the interaction
between player and characters is deeper than seen before. Some
puzzles are a little confusing, such as the marble popper at first
seeming to be unfinished. You can only play the green marbles,
causing some to tear their hair out because it doesn't seem you
can continue. But just keep playing and all will be revealed later
in the game when other color marbles become available.
There are many hidden objects and clever puzzles to solve, hidden
chambers and secret passage ways to explore, keys to find and
a fabulous "Hidden Object Face Off" near the end, where
you quickly gather an inventory of hidden objects in a room, while
the wicked witch gathers her own. You will also need to find pieces
of broken mirrors so you can reassemble them, jigsaw style, so
the castle staff can be released from the curse. As you find each
piece, you will be shown a count of how many more you need to
find.
It could be said that there are quite a few new innovations included
in Princess Isabella A Witch's Curse. Whether they are new or
refurbished elements really doesn't matter, as the whole game
unfolds perfectly and you are drawn on and on until the finale.
Are there drawbacks. For some the helpful fairy could grate on
your nerves and the ghostly sounds as you collect potion ingredients
does become irritating. Hints recharge quickly but some puzzles
are difficult and some directions confusing if you don't pay attention.
In conclusion we rate this game about 41/2 stars from 5. Another
must have game and Princess Isabella A Witch's Curse is our choice
for Game of the Month so far. It's exciting to think we have had
half a dozen excellent games so far this month and there is still
10 days left.
