Hidden World of Art 2: Undercover Art Agent Review
A classic hidden object game, Undercover Art Agent takes you
into the world of fine art, fighting crime and uncovering a gang
of crafty art thieves. You play as Lana Vassari, a young art restorer
who returns to her native Everton to find something strange is
happening in all the towns art galleries. It seems a gang of art
thieves are at work, defacing some of the worlds finest art pieces.
You must restore the paintings and help capture the criminals.
Firstly
the graphics in this are simply superb. You don't need to be an
art lover to appreciate what are undoubtedly good paintings. The
scenes are rich and full of life, with wonderful colors and a
vibrancy that is a pure delight to the eyes. Hidden objects are
not too difficult to find among the cluttered backdrops. While
some objects don't suit the times within the paintings, they do
go with the story, which is that the art thieves are defacing
the stolen paintings by adding items to the scene. When you find
an object from the list, you are actually rubbing out the item
and restoring the painting.
After completing a scene, you are then shown the painting and
given the name of the artwork and artist, which is a nice touch
and adds to the appreciation of art. Why not do a google and search
the painting or artist to learn a little of the history behind
the each scene.
While Undercover Art Agent is a classic hidden object game, bringing
nothing new to the game genre, you do get a bonus chance by finding
a short list of objects, which must be found in the exact order
they are listed. With the bonus money you are able to furnish
your new apartment. It's no big deal but adds a gentle twist to
an otherwise seek and find game, and some may enjoy the break.
You can skip it if you like.
The free download was quick without glitches and the game runs
smoothly. The hints system is clear, but you do have to pay some
of the money you earn for restoring the paintings to use hints
after the first within each scene. I liked the mini type hints
where if you are not sure what an item looks like, hover your
cursor over the word on the list and you will be shown an outline
of the item. Came in handy when looking for a "zither".
The dialogue is long, but again this can be skipped if you don't
want too much of the story. As a hidden object game, they don't
get much better than this, but it doesn't have that interactive
element that we have been served in the last few weeks. It's not
a Ravenhearst, just a good classic hidden object game with superb
art work.
Hidden World of Art 2: Undercover Art Agent is really good and
we highly recommend having this added to your game chest. Okay,
okay, so I'm an art fan and perhaps a bit biased, but if your
not, try the free download at least. There's 50 scenes to complete
so that should keep you occupied for at least 5 hours or more,
in the meantime, I'll keep drooling over the great paintings and
dreaming that I'm Da Vinci recreated. .
