Enlightenus Review
This is different, and refreshingly different at that. Yet for
some it will be because it is different that will actually spoil
their experience. How is Enlightenus different from all other
hidden object games? You don't actually look for the items, you
are given them in your inventory, the challenge is to find where
to use or place those items within the scene, such as hammering
nails into holes, breaking glass cabinets or placing a train onto
tracks. Enlightenment is like a hidden object game in reverse.
Inspector Doubleleaf is your name and although you have great
detective skills, your passion in life is writing. A famous children's
novelist, Edgar Lee, has called upon you to investigate mysterious
happenings at his reclusive mansion. You enter into a strange
and secret world of goblins and elves, a world in which the writer
has based his best selling books. Something or someone has stolen
all his books and hidden all the pages within Enlightenus, a story
land version of his eerie mansion. You must solve the mystery,
so all the books can be restored and children can once more enjoy
the fables. Who knows, perhaps along the way you will become enlightened
to possible future happenings!
The story line in Enlightenus is fabulous and the graphics first
class. There are 13 Hidden Object scenes, which you will visit
a total of three times each. There are several puzzles and mini-games
to solve in the game. The hint system is well designed and hints
are unlimited if you really get stuck, but you do have to find
hint cards hidden within each scene.
Puzzles are readily solvable and not too difficult and the directions
are mainly clear, yet you can get confused where to progress when
going backward and forward between rooms. You can skip mini games
but it does cost you all your hint cards if you do. Good Hog players
who are logical and easily solve puzzles, might find the game
length short, yet it will be an enjoyable adventure.
Enlightenus is a game that is complicated enough to keep your
interest, yet entertaining and at times quite amusing. Enlightenus
is the type of game you won't want to end as you become enmeshed
in the story. This is almost as good as Return
to Ravenhearst, which really is saying a lot, but it is a
lot shorter and quicker to finish. The ending is quite good for
those who enjoy a good story.
