Detective Stories Hollywood Game Review

Someone is trying to bring a leading Hollywood movie studio to it's knees and you are called upon to do a bit of sleuthing to put an end to the problem. A large amount of cash is missing, a most important script for the next Oscar award winning movie has vanished, even the leading lady has disappeared.

Okay, so that's the spiel and that's about the most exciting thing you will hear me mention about this latest hidden object game, Detective Stories Hollywood. For die hard HOG fans, this is downright boring. It's like a few hidden object scenes thrown together, mini games chucked in to add a bit of difference and no real plan to gel the whole production together in a meaningful way.

Newbies to the hidden object genre will probably like Detective Stories Hollywood. Objects are not hard to find and there is a fair bit of dialogue that walks you through most of the game. Mini games are pretty simple puzzles to solve and the graphics are quite good. Unfortunately, the consensus seems to be that it is suitable only for the younger set, perhaps around the 12 to 14 year old group.

Detective Stories Hollywood didn't do a lot wrong, yet it just seems rushed and unpolished. Disappointing really, because the idea was fun and hunting through a Hollywood studio in over 160 levels of hidden object games is something that could be totally enjoying.

I honestly cannot recommend Detective Stories Hollywood other than saying that you try the free demo game download for yourself. It maybe that I am just a spoiled brat, too used to playing those excellent HO games that have been coming out lately such as Mystery Stories Berlin Nights. Now there is a hidden object game that the developers of this should try and emulate.

Ah well, in a perfect world all games would be exciting. Detective Stories Hollywood just misses that mark and rates about three out of five, most of those marks purely for the graphics alone, and lost points for too much annoying dialogue.
