Vacation Mogul Game Review
Whilst
Vacation Mogul does have similarities to established real estate
building games such as Build-a Lot, Vacation Mogul does have it's
own brand of game play and shouldn't be judged on the popular BaL
series. In fact there is a lot to like about this new time management
tycoon game and one feature that really stands out is the ability
to go back and replay levels to gain higher cash balances. This
to me, and many others, is a real plus in any time management business
sim game.
The story kind of gets you interested right from the beginning.
It's a tale of two sisters inheriting their deceased uncles estate.
Your late uncle has left a stately mansion and 5 tropical islands.
But there is money owing that must be paid before the mansion can
be inherited. Something is just not right and one sister goes missing,
leaving you to deal with a shifty lawyer and the responsibility
of turning a run down tourist resort into a booming economic gold
mine. Can you save the family mansion by becoming a tourist resort
tycoon?
In order to make enough money, you are required to transform the
5 islands into a tropical paradise, where tourist would like to
go and play while on their vacations. The first 2 levels will guide
you into the basics of the game, where you will build 2 shacks and
upgrade them into modern hotels. Each level you will have goals
to attain, which in turn leads you to the next level, until you
complete 38 levels on the 5 islands. You will have to build, repair
and research to attract tourists, all the time keeping your eye
on the goal of creating enough wealth to recover the mansion your
uncle has bequeathed to you and your sister.
Vacation Mogul is quite a good paced time management game, with
it's own twists and turns that will keep you totally involved, once
you have completed a rather slow and tedious tutorial. While not
as slick as Build-a-Lot series, the graphics and challenge of meeting
the set goals and attaining a gold or silver cup in each level,
is enough to satisfy the most discerning player.
It is unfortunate for Vacation Mogul that it will be judged against
other real estate game titles, as it could easily be a top tycoon
game with just a little more depth. Nevertheless, it rates at four
from five stars for us and with a few more mini games of the caliber
that the 2 included games held, could have made four and a half.
Vacation Mogul is certainly one that you should at least try for
yourself. Don't worry about those that compare it to Build-a-Lot,
play the free trial yourself and see what it offers. It's quite
good and will surprise if you play into the game and give Vacation
Mogul the chance.
