Empire Builder - Ancient Egypt Game Review

Empire Builder - Ancient Egypt is one of those rare games where you immediately want to purchase the full game to play on your PC at your own leisure. It takes a game like Build-A-Lot that bit further down the road and introduces some nice original game mechanics to a popular theme.

You start out playing as an apprentice builder to the famed Awan, a respected stone mason, who has worked for the great Pharaoh constructing temples and pyramids. You have grand dreams of building great structures to honor the Gods of ancient Egypt and are prepared to work hard and learn all you can to become a master builder and construct great pyramids to please your ruler.

You learn to develop buildings and grow cities, with houses, infrastructure and monuments. As your experience grows, so too does your fame and with each step up the ladder to success you are granted amulets with special powers. You must learn to manage resources, material and workers, all within a budget. You have tools to build, demolish or repair and you must decide where to build cities in the rich land along the great Nile River, and what type of buildings to construct.

In typical time management simulation style, there are two playing modes in Empire Builder - Ancient Egypt, timed or the more relaxed untimed modes. Graphics are excellent and there is a good tutorial that walks you through the basics and gets you started. You have assignments to complete, money to earn, which then buys you more resources, and rewards that give you power ups.

Perhaps the negatives to Empire Builder - Ancient Egypt is the difficulty level isn't too great and the length for experience builders a bit short. Otherwise Empire Builder - Ancient Egypt is a fabulous building simulation game, with lots of new features that take this building game genre to a higher level.

Highly recommend Empire Builder - Ancient Egypt to all as a good time management game, where the developers have stayed true to the time zone of ancient Egypt and introduced nice fresh game mechanics.
