Lost is a fabulous real time simulation game, just like Virtual
Villagers, where you direct the lives of a group of stranded
time travelers, building a new civilization and helping them survive
long enough to work out how they can go home from their astral prison.
Graphics are outstanding on this title, and while the game play
is a lot similar to Virtual Villagers, there is a freshness with
exciting twists on what was a very popular strategy game.
The story takes you into the lives of a group of young people who
are lured into a field by a strange and mysterious light beam, caused
by a solar eclipse. They stumble across an ancient astrological
site and while they fiddle with a symbolic relic, are teleported
to an unihabited and unchartered land. Was it just an accident or
a clever astrological plan to teleport these young people, with
the goal of populating a deserted paradise. Stranded and confused,
you must direct their lives and help them find pieces of the zodiac
keys which will enable them to return to earth.
The aim of Gemini Lost is to return the lost people to earth by
finding Zodiac Keys, which will help you unlock certain puzzles.
In true strategy game planning, you will need to not only feed your
population for them to survive, you also need to grow the population
so that the Zodiac keys can be found. Some are hidden under bushes
that need to be eaten by animals, or the characters will need to
build a raft to cross a stream to pick up one of the required Zodiac
keys. There will be sciences required to achieve certain functions
before performing other tasks, so careful planning is always the
best strategy.
All characters have their own personality with distinct likes and
dislikes. You must try to mate compatible characters and perform
weddings. All adults can perform all work requiredyet those who
like that certain job will perform the work better. Sciences must
be studied so that certain buildings or tools can be aquired, so
it will pay to have many adult scientists within the group.
A very detailed yet enjoyable and entertaining game, Gemini Lost
also has some mini games that break up the pace of the game and
is a casual game that can be replayed over and over, depending on
the moves you make during each sitting. Perhaps the biggest fault
is the fact that when you stop playing and shut down, the game characters
continue to perform whatever tasks you have assigned. This is good
in one regard as you can have many resources at your disposal on
returning to the game, or it can be annoying because of the slower
game pace while playing. Thankfully there are options, Pause, Slow,
or Normal modes, to suit the time that you may be away from the
game.
Highly recommend Gemini Lost to all. Perhaps the best way to see
if it is too similar to virtual Villagers for you is to try the
free download, but it does become quite compelling to continue within
the free hour. Nice graphics, lovable characters, good tasks to
perform and a well balanced game without glitches.
