You need to shoot the spaceship's rockets with enough speed to clear past asteroids and planets which have a certain gravitational pull that will make your spaceship steer off line. The test is to judge the trajectory of the shot coupled with the speed of the rocket. Crash into planets and asteroids and it's goodbye spaceship.
