Elven Mists 2 Game Review

With 120 levels and 2 playing modes, story mode and time trial, Elven Mists 2 is a delightful puzzle game with a strong tetris like theme. Right from the start, the overall quality becomes apparent, from the storybook style opening to the mystical characters that are introduced right through the game. Add first class sound, wonderful graphics and you know instinctively that this will be a game that you will surely enjoy. It is a definite step up from the original Elven Mists.

Your quest is to take the part of a young Elven lad with special magical powers. At the young age of just 99 years, you are called upon to step up and take over from the retired Awakener, who keeps the elves awake so their special light shines across the land of Desu. Something is making the elves fall asleep and the light is dimming across the land, you must quickly help restore the balance and awaken the elves from their slumber.

Perhaps the worst point of the Elven Mists 2 game is that it is spread across too many levels. One could become bored with the time and repetition it takes to complete the game. On the other hand, others will enjoy the challenge and the fact that they get their moneys worth, otherwise as a puzzle game, Elven Mists 2 is right up their with the best.

There are amusing characters introduced at each level of the game and mini games to complete, which attempts to perhaps break up the monotony. You lay down a series of tetris shaped blocks, attempting to join paths and blow up obstacles, thereby releasing trapped elves and ensuring their light shines across the darkening land.

In conclusion, Elven Mists 2 is more that a good casual game. It will take some brain power to conquer and a fair dose of staying power to go the journey, especially in one sitting. Visually, Elven Mists 2 is superb and the story line stays with the game from beginning to end. Elven Mists 2 gets a 4 from 5 rating and a special place on my "play again" list of games. If all casual games were up to this standard, our lives would be heavenly.
