The
Village Mage Spellbinder Game Review
Is it a match 3 game or is it a time management game? Well The
Village Mage Spellbinder is a bit of both. You play the match 3
part as quickly as you can to get potions which will cure the villagers
of various illnesses. The time management comes in as you treat
the villagers like you would if you were a waitress, you must serve
them before they get too impatient and leave.
The Village Mage Spellbinder is not unique in combing 2 game play
genres within the one game. Restaurant
Rush is a similar game that readily comes to mind, so nothing
new in this regard. Graphics are just okay and the actual game play
a bit rough around the edges. There are 2 game modes, challenge
and relaxed mode. Someone should have told the developers just what
relaxed means as we tried the game out on relaxed mode and found
it very, very hectic. One can only imagine how hectic challenge
mode would be.
But then games shouldn't be soda pop easy, so players who are up
to a challenge should enjoy this one. It does give you the chance
to hire animals as your assistants, which helps you greatly. You
make matches of 3 or more items to collect the potions. You must
clear the match 3 puzzle as quick as you can and then deliver the
potion to your customers before they get angry for waiting too long
and leave. If you aren't fast enough, your potion spoils.
One
of the things where The Village Mage Spellbinder really got to us
is the fact that the game audio is very important. It is too easy
to miss a knock on the door or the "ping" when a potion
has finished brewing. There is 60 core levels and 20 bonus levels
and you strive to reach gold scores to complete your apprenticeship
and become the Village Mage, which is like being promoted to chief
chemist or the head sorcerer.
The Village Mage Spellbinder is not too bad of a game if you like
fast paced games, but many may find the hectic pace just a wee bit
overwhelming. We rate The Village Mage Spellbinder at 3 stars from
5. Strongly suggest to everyone to try the free download from BFG
