Aveyond Gates of Night Game Review

Another great episode in the Aveyond series, Gates of Night takes a giant leap forward in both quality and game play, giving you something special to enjoy and conquer.

You play as Mel, a friend of Edward, Crown Prince of Thais. Mel is also a thief who made a huge mistake, stealing the Orb of Darkness for a cunning vampire called Gyndel, who has plans to activate the orbs magical powers and plunge the world into eternal darkness. Mel, as a direct descendant of the Orb's creator, has the power to activate the orb and went into hiding to flee the evil vampire's clutches. Secretly entering into the school of War and Magic in Thais, Mel is gaining skills and experience to fight the vampire, but the threat is looming closer and she must undertake a quest to find another Orb, the Orb of Light, which can save the world.

With limited experience, not yet fully educated or prepared, but with brave and heroic intent, Mel gathers a group of heroes and sets forth on a series of quests that may save the world. Fight demons and dragons, pick up clues and explore unknown territories to gain the experience of flight and journey to Naylith Summit to find the Orb of Light. This is your quest. Are you up to the challenge?

Aveyond Gates of Night has all the ingredients that make a virtual role playing game a true adventure. Good music, full of surprises and interesting quests, plus fabulous characters and puzzles to keep you interested and entertained. You can eve play cupid and try to get Crown Prince Edward to marry Mel, now there's a fabulous romantic side that other games completely miss.

Take your time with this as there is plenty of humor involved, where you can talk to many interesting characters who will give you clues that you need to fulfill your quest. Some of the characters won't have much to offer except an amusing line or two, which sometimes is a good diversion from the steady game play.

Once you leave the mainland, several options are opened for you to explore, which gifts the plot with different findings. Aveyond Gates of Night is perhaps a tad short yet fulfills all expectations of a hallmark five star production. A great game, highly recommended.
