Windows XP Custom Mouse Cursor

You can easily change the default Windows XP mouse pointers to something more to your liking. Now there's no need download those intrusive cursors that place spyware onto your computer. You can have either a static cursor or an animated cursor.

Here's the steps to change the pointer theme.

• Open the Control Panel by clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel.
• Click the "Mouse Icon."
• In the Mouse Properties window that appears, click the Pointers tab.
• In the area under where it says "Scheme," choose a pointer scheme from the drop-down list.
• There are quite a few Pointer Themes to choose
• Click Apply
• OK to make the change effective

You can also change the cursor style to a custom cursor of your own choice.

I have a green smiley cursor on this page if you are using IE6 or above. This cursor is a webpage cursor but you can have the same effect on your desktop computer.

The image that you use for the cursor must be either a .cur or .ani format. If you can't make your own custom cursor, I recommend Debi's Cursors where you can can find a large selection of free custom cursors. Save the image you like to your hard drive and follow the steps below.

Desktop Installation:

• Click the Start button on your task bar
• Select "Settings" then "Control Panel
• Click on the Mouse icon
• Select the "Pointers" tab
• Highlight the cursor image your want to change
• Select browse and find your custom cursor image on your hard drive
• Double click your custom cursor then click "Apply" or "OK"

Your custom cursor is now installed to your desktop.
